Admissions Policy

Policy Statement

1.1  Brainyville International School is a private school for pupils aged between 3 months to 11 years old; cutting across Creche, Early Years and Key Stages 1 and 2 ( Primary 1 to 6)

1.2  A combined team of School Governing Board and Management is responsible for setting the admission requirements and the school adheres to the procedures and guidance set by this team (see below).

Guidance: Admission to Brainyville International School (BIS)

3.1  Prospective pupils and parents are encouraged to visit the school during the working day between the hours of 10am to 4pm. A school tour can be arranged on request.

3.2   For admission to any of our classes or year groups other than Creche, a pre-admission test is usually administered to determine the child’s suitability for the class being applied for.

3.3   If the number of children in that year group (class) does not exceed the maximum admission number for the class, and there is no reserve list, a place may be offered immediately on passing the suitability test (entry assessment). Please check with the school office for more details on this.

General Guidance

3.1 In the event of oversubscription, the following criteria will be used to determine priority for places:

  • Children living in the *catchment area with a sibling at the school at the time of admission.
  • Children living in the catchment area
  • Children with any of the parents working in the catchment area.
  • Children living outside the catchment area who have a sibling at the school at the time of admission.

Guidance: Admission to School for Creche\

2.1  Parents who wish to register their babies/children for admission to our Creche must apply for a place using the School Pre-dmission form. Admission into Creche is all year round. The admission form, together with a covering letter is available for parents to pick up from the school office on payment of a non-refundable application fee; but the pre-admission is available at the school security post or downloadable from the school website for free. Letters offering school placement to our creche will be issued/sent out immediately on acceptance of the application.

Guidance: Admission to School for Early Years & Key Stage 1 & 2 (Primary)

Parents who wish to register their children for admission to any of our Early Years or Primary classes (Playgroup, Pre-nursery, Nursery, Reception and Primary must apply for a place using the School Pre-admission form. Admission into the Early Years and Primary is between April to August prior to their resumption in September. Admission at any other time of the year is possible but on special consideration and availability of space. The admission form, together with a covering letter and a guide to the application process, is available for parents to pick up from the school office on payment of a non-refundable application fee; but the pre-admission is available at the school security post or downloadable from the school website for free. An entry assessment is administered on the prospective pupil ( Primary classes only). If the pupil successfully scales through the entry assessment and the application is accepted, a formal Letter offering school placement is thereafter issued/sent out immediately to the prospective parents. We work hard to ensure that starting school is a calm and natural progression from Creche, Early Years to Key Stages 1 & 2.

Before resumption, parents have the opportunity to meet the staff and discuss the start of school at a Curriculum Forecast Evening organised at the beginning of a new session. During this event, all parents have the opportunity to meet the new faculty as well as an option of a one-on-one session with their child’s new teacher and the Head of School. All parents meet with the respective teachers to discuss the way that their children learn and what their children will be learning in the new term and areas of special need or concern if any.

Monitoring and review

3.1 All members of staff and management have the responsibility of implementing this policy.  The effectiveness of this policy will be evaluated on an annual basis by the Head of School.

Signed by the Chair of the Governing Board.
